James Reddick Webb of St. Francis County, AR

Can anyone help me with obtaining from a newspaper the murder of James Reddick Webb. He died in the first few days of July 1911 or first few days of July 1912. There is some discrepancy as to the year.

Jo

Descendants of James Reddick Webb

Generation No. 1

1. JAMES REDDICK2 WEBB (WILLIAM WADE1)1 was born 07 Sep 1881 in St. Frances County, Arkansas, and died 03 Jul 1911 in Newcastle, Cross County, Arkansas. He married MOLLIE NICHOLS2 06 Sep 1898 in St. Francis County, Arkansas2. She was born 28 Jan 1884 in St. Francis County, Arkansas, and died 11 Feb 1965 in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Notes for JAMES REDDICK WEBB:
The research of Loyd N. Sybert, 1440 N. Lawnwood Cir., 19D, Fort Pierce, FL 34950, has the following:

Born SEP 1882 / Married 6 SEP 1898 / no death date.

He adds: James & Molly were married 6 SEP 1898 in St. Francis Co., Arkansas. The marriage was performed by W.R. McLaren, JP, and is recorded on page 24, Book I, St. Francis Co., Arkansas. The license indicated that James was 18 years old in 1898. Is this correct or was he 16 years old?

The 1900 Arkansas census lists James & Molly and their son, James H., as residing in Johnson Township, St. Francis Co., Arkansas. James is listed as a day laborer and a renter.

The 1910 Arkansas census lists James & Molly as owning and operating a farm in Johnson Township, St. Francis Co., Arkansas.

Their children: James Hubert, Nora Lea, and Virgil. Also listed in the household is Johnson Watson, a 20 year old white male boarder listed as a farmer.

His tombstone at Loughridge Cemetery gives dates of SEPT 7, 1881 - JULY 3, 1912

Note that some family records give birth as 7 SEP 1881. These records also give death date as 2 JUL 1912. His wife's obituary gives his death in 1911.

He was the sheriff of St. Francis Co., Arkansas. He was murdered by the husband of the woman he was having an affair with.
