I'm afraid that the research trail I was pursuing back in 2001 was a dead end. I ended up learning very little that was useful about the first settlers of Pocahontas, and went off in other directions. Dalton's "History of Randolph County", which lists a lot of early settlers, is available on the Rootsweb site, but it includes almost no Cooks, and no Randolph. Sorry.
