Audrey, thanks. I am aware that Thomas Jefferson Sharum and his wife, Lydia Lents, had migrated to the Randolph Co AR area--what I've not been able to confirm is that the rural community named Sharum in Randolph Co was named after these Sharums. According to the online records for the Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence Co. AR, not only is Thomas and Lydia buried there (along with Monte), but there is also a James J. Sharum (1896-1953) and his wife Susan Sloan Sharum buried there. I don't have this James J. Sharum in my geneology records, so I'm wondering if he descended from a different Sharum that Thomas. Are you aware of the exact location of the property that Thomas purchased from your Smith relatives? Thomas is not in my direct ancestral line--his father is Harvey Vincent Sharum and his paternal grandparents are George A. Sharum and Temperance Seals, who are my 4G-grandparents. Harvey's brother James Dominick Sharum is my 3G grandfather. I appreciate the family information you've provided about Thomas and his father--I didn't have that in my genealogy records. There are numerous marriages between the Sharum and Lents families that took place in and around Daviess and Martin Co IN during the mid-1800's. I'm still trying to work out the relationships between the Lents who married into my Sharum family (and in one case into my Seals family). That's quite a history of the Cissells and Smiths...they have a very colorful life story! I noted with interest your reference to your McLain ancestors in Arkansas. I have a Reid family connection to McLains in Arkansas--Flossie Reid married James Cassill McLain on 23 April 1916 in Fulton Co AR, which isn't far from Randolph Co. Flossie is a niece of my great-grandfather, William Wesley Reid. Do you have this McLain in your family records by chance? I don't know who is James's parents. John Reid P.O.
