I recently did a bit of checking on George Mansker on Rootsweb. Found two Georges, father and son, one born in Germany and one in Lancaster Co. PA. Both seem to have moved to Wayne Co. Mo., where one of them died and the other joined my Bettis ancestors in their move to Randolph Co. Casper Schmick appears to have been married to Mary Mansker, making him a probable son- or brother-in-law.

One of the reasons I was intrigued by these two people is that their names suggest a relationship to "Casper Mansker", who was allegedly one of Daniel Boone's Longhunters. However, I can't find even the most distant hint of an actual connection. What info do you have?

The more I prospect around here, the more I find that everyone's related. You seem to have a Blackwelder of Cabarrus Co. in your family tree - probably the sister of the Catherine Blackwelder who married my ancestor Johannes Paulus Behringer (Barringer)!
