Piatt - Pyatte - Peyatte where is it?

Hello,

I am helping someone research Beatty/Beaty in Piatt (Pulaski County). They are listed as living in Piatt (and variants) from 1860-1880 ... I cannot find this township on any map, nor correlate it to a modern map!

And, can someone tell me if there was a "local" newspaper in 1861 that might have printed an obituary? Franklin Beatty dies in 1861. He was a Baptist Minister and so may have "warranted" an obituary ...

Any help with geography and local newspapers would be much appreciated!
