McAfee, and Suttons may be out of Cherokee Co. GA by way of North Carolina to GA. Our McAfee's are said to have been in Rutherford Co. NC in 1830's and by 1840 are found in the 1840 Habersham Co. GA census's. By 1850 they are listed in both Walker Co. GA ( Berry and Spencer McAfee ) and in Cherokee Co. GA ( Spencer and mother Elvira McAfee ) . By 1860 Spencer McAfee is in Marion Co. AR and it is believed that Berry McAfee may have come into NEWTON CO. AR about then as well. If so we later see that Berry McAfee's son WILLIAM W. McAFEE has several census's in Newton Co. AR.
NEED INFORMATION on William W. McAfee and his parents who are BERRY McAFEE b. 1822 NC and wife NANCY OXFORD b. 1832 GA. Berry McAfee died ( we think ) about 1863 and then his widow Nancy Oxford McAfee married 2nd husband William J. Auterson in Berry Co. MO and they then moved to Benton Co. AR. The AUTERSONS are then found on the 1880 Benton Co. AR Census with Berry McAFee's two sons named Jasper and George McAfee who are brothers of WILLIAM W. McAFEE b. 1850 GA and who d. 1922 in Southwest City, Mo. and is buried in the Park Cemetery in McDonald Co. MO. Some feel that Berry McAfee may have died about 1863 in MO also but we have no data on him in MO. other than his widow Nancy Oxford McAfee had married 2nd husband in Berry Co. MO. and then moved to Benton Co. AR. Any help with this family would be appreciated. Berry McAFee is son of John S. McAfee and wife Elvira/ Elzira Unknown and Elvira McAFee was probably widowed by 1850 Cherokee Co. GA census where she then lived, and by 1860 was living with her other son SPENCER McAFEE and 2nd wife ADELINE LANCE McAFEE. Spencer is brother to Berry McAFee. Elvira McAfee is listd on Spencer's 1860 MARION Co. AR census as ELVIRA SUTTON and so she apparently had remarried to a SUTTON. The only SUTTON we found in that 1860 Cherokee Co. GA Census near Elvira then is an ASA SUTTON. But we also know that other SUTTONS were living in Newton Co. AR where Elvira's son Berry McAfee may have lived after leaving Walker Co. GA and moving to AR. We know that Berry McAFEE's son WILLIAM W. McAFEE is shown on the census data below in Newton Co. AR. Some feel that this William W. McAfee had first wife named Martha J. Beckham who had first husband named Harry N. Robinson. Martha had a son named John A. Robinson listed as step son to William W. McAfee in his 1880 Newton Co. AR Census and we think that Martha then died by 1885 and then William W. McAfee married 2nd wife ALTA shown below in the following census data.
