Charles Cox Family
Posted by: George Bowen (ID *****3393) Date: January 25, 2005 at 09:53:59

I'm looking for information on the following family. I've included my notes because some of what is shown is based on circumstanial evidence.

I'm hoping that someone may recongnize the family and possibly have information on Thomas M. Cox, the son of Charles and Nancy.

However, if you recognize any of the family and can confirm/disprove/expand on any of the following I would like to share notes.

Thanks

George

================

1. CHARLES COX was born 17 Apr 1851 in Georgia, and died 01 Jan 1893 in Arkansas. He married NANCY A. ?. She was born 20 May 1850 in Georgia, and died 28 Dec 1892 in Arkansas.

Notes for CHARLES COX:
As of yet I have not found Charles and Nancy Cox on a 1900 census. Based on the following I believe they were both dead prior to 1900, but it is some what based on the following circumstantial evidence.
signed - GDB

===================================
Source Barbaree 046 - Waldrep Cemetery, Nevada Co., AR shows:

Cox, Charlie 4-17-1851--- 1-1-1893 double mon. with Nancy
Cox, Nancy 5-20-1850--- 12-28-1892 double mon. with Charlie

The birth years would be correct for the two and they did live in Columbia Co., AR in 1870 and Taylor, Nevada Co., AR in 1880.

====================================
Source 045 Census for Taylor, Nevada Co., AR in 1880 shows children:

Alonza Cox, age 9, son
Thomas M. Cox age 4, son
John R. Cox age 2, son

====================================
On the 1900 Census for Taylor, Nevada Co., AR I find a:

John R. Cox, head of household, age 22, AR GA GA
Della Cox, sister, age 19, AR GA GA
Luther H. Cox, brother, age 17, AR GA GA

The age for John R. Cox would be correct for the youngest child of Charles and Nancy as of the 1880 census where a John R. Cox is shown age 2. John being shown as head of household with a sister and brother born after 1880, but before 1892 would support the thought that John's parents may have been dead before 1900. Which could be supported by the Walrep Cemetery records.

As I said above - it is some what based on circumstantial evidence.
signed - GDB
