No relation to either family, but my mother's half-uncle was raised by Robert Buttram in Montgomery Co; so your posting caught my attention.
There were three children with the Buttrams in 1900: John 14 b.d. given as Sept 1885; Samuel 12 b.d. Dec 1887 and Willie 10 b.d. March 1890. The surname given was SMITH. Which may or may not be accurate.
There is a John Wright showing to be 18 with a b.d. of either Mar or Nov 1882 with the Joseph C Elder family in 1900 Montg. Co. Doesn't match exactly, but he may have added a bit to his age to impress an employer.
Not knowing how sure you are of the William Wright, I'll ask if you have looked at Rootsweb for Alexander Augustus Wright? On the 1880 Sevier Co census he is married to a Margaret F (or could be an E) who is 19 to his 59 (one blurb shows 39---but he was 48 in Clark Co in 1870.)
Her parents are given as Moses T and Cordelia Jackson. She was born in Saline Co., MO. In 1870, you will find them in Boone Co, MO under Terrell Jackson and I'm pretty sure I found them in Sevier Co in 1880.
Alex and Margaret had several children including a son named John Monroe (or Munroe) about the age of your John. Could he have used a different name? I have a friend who didn't learn her father's name (and her maiden name) was an alias until he died.
A lot of the information fits yours with slight variations, so it might be worth pursuing.
I guess I'm assuming you found Margaret Savall buried in the Buckville Cemetery....I found -0- about her husband, though.
