Thanks for answering. It was a long shot-AND apparently too much in the dark. I was hoping some of those Hays out there would see the note and say Whoa! I know that guy-- He was my great great etc etc. But guess not.
I am looking for my great great grandfather- whoever he was. but he was from Tn. my great grandfather was in NC. Alex Hays was my grandmother's half brother (by lst wife of John Hardin Hay(e)s). Alex moved to Arkansas in 1870's. and is buried in Greenwood Cemetary, Hot Springs, Ak. So I was trying for a round about method.
