My great-grandfather William Timothy Rodgers was a brother to James Cooper Rodgers. W. T. moved to Montgomery Co. AR with his family, Shadrack M. A. Rodgers in the 1870's.
Several of Shadrack's children came with them, but I don't know if James was one of them. I think they came through LA. I am trying to find out about our family in Montgomery Co., AR. According to William Brown's book "Rodgers/Rogers Westward from the Carolinas" James was born April 27, 1850 in Covinton Co. MS and died July 13, 1914 in TX at the age of 64. Sophronia Ann Kent was born March 1850 in LA. She died in TX on October 8, 1948 at age 98. Both were buried in the Rochelle Cemetery in McCulloch Co. TX.
I don't know if they ever lived in Montgomery Co. AR. I would be happy to share notes on the S. M. A. Rodgers family.
Please e-mail me.
