Could your "Martha LAWSON" possibly have been born about 1861 in Mississippi, and have had a younger brother named Tom? I apparently have not saved the census ...1880 I think ..for Benson "Ben" H. COOPER and "Mollie" household with 'boy' Tom Lawson.
Benson H. COOPER is the youngest brother of my gg grandfather Dillard L. COOPER and they were sons of Benson H. COOPER b SC and Delphia LINDSEY, b GA. Dillard's household in 1880 can be found in Monroe, Brinkley, AR and Ben was nearby. Dillard COOPER died 4 years later and Ben wanted the family land from Dillard's wife Parthenia ..Dillard COOPER was her 3rd husband and they had been married only 8 years and I suppose Ben didn't think Parthenia should stay there. This is of course family lore told to me by my mother, but sounds plausible.
A few years ago I was in touch with a relative on the LAWSON line and we wondered about the 'boy' Tom LAWSON..not identified as to his relationship with Benson H. COOPER on that census. In my FTMaker I have saved what seems to be his marriage record, and it appears Martha / Mollie had been previously married to a WITHERS...perhaps during Civil War and then maybe lost her spouse, as the marriage record I found showed B.H. COOPER to Mollie WITHERS.
Mollie "?Lawson" Withers Cooper died between 1900 and 1910 I think, and Ben then moves to Logan County AR.He died there May 19, 1921. Some descendants on his line still live in Booneville, Logan Co AR.
