John A. Washburn married Hester Ann R. English on 26 Jul 1858 in Monroe Co., AR. You can view the filmed marriages at any LDS Family History Center as film #1015019.

The 1860 census of Monroe Co., AR shows John A. Washburn as age 46 and Hester A., age 24. Wiley A., age 18 is also in the HH.

In the 1880 census of Milam Co., TX, Wiley A. Washburn, age 38, has a wife named Mary J., age 26, along with children Anna, Homer and John D., all children born in TX. This is the only Washburn family I find in Milan Co., TX in 1880.

If they were involved in a lawsuit over land in 1876 in TX, I would look into the Fanny Griffin as being a close relative of the wife. Often the wording of will probates will sound like a sibling is trying to sue the relative who is the executor of the estate in an effort to get the property sold and money disbursed. Since women had no rights at that time, the husband's name was often used as the one pressing for settlement.
