Looking for Hartless des. of James and Sarah Hartless who resided in Monroe Co on 1860 census. Children living at home at that time were Robinson,William,Reuben, Linsey, Nancy.
Believe Elizabeth A. Hartless who married Jesse Higgs 1-Oct-1848 in Lawrence TN also a daughterof this family. The Higgs also moved to Monroe. Rueben Hartless married Susan McBride 5-Feb-1860. Rueben served in the Confederate Army Co C Cocke's Regiment Ark Infantry Private #376-10-3075. I believe this family to be my gg-grandfathers family. His name is Elihu Hartless b. abt 1826 in Va. He resided in Rusk County on the 1860 census and his brother was living with him at the time (Linsey). This family also listed a son Linsey which I believe to be the brother that had been in Texas with Elihue. Since the census were taken at different times of the year explains how Linsey was recorded twice. Also, there was a W.H. Hartless that resided in Texas for awhile and served in the Conferate Army Co F, 7 Texas Cavalry the same as Elihu. Is this William the same as was on the 1860 census with James and Sarah? I have attempted to find a will in Monroe for James in hope of proving these families connections but none was recorded? Is there a famiy bible that notes the children of James & Sarah? Also, there was an older William who left VA in a separate household but always living in the same vicinity as James and Sarah, how is this William related to James? Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks.....
