If someone from the area can’t help with the obituary, you might want to try the Arkansas History Commission in Little Rock (www.ark-ives.com). They have a large collection of newspapers on microfilm, including many from Mississippi County. I might be mistaken, but I believe Troy Township was south of Osceola. Issues of the Osceola Times date back to 1873.

The website has a database of newspaper titles and publication dates, along with photocopy request forms. The price is a bit steep at $10, but it’s the only way I’ve been able to get obits from the area. Awhile back, I called the libraries in Blytheville and Osceola and was told they don’t have any older issues of local papers on microfilm.

I hope this information is of some help. Good luck!
