Thanks for your response. If you read the other post I responded to Emil, I have written about Gladys (she is my great-grandmother). I have more information in detail if you are interested for your records.
I think I am confused about the Thornton you are referring to, Jesse and Sarah Ross. Are you suggesting to look at them as a possibility of being James' parents? I will look into that. We have been told for a long time that his mom was an Indian and recently found out that she was probably from the Cherokee tribe (probably from Oklahoma). Haven't been able to confirm this yet either. I haven't found any record related to James that have listed his parents names. I am still looking to find his birth certificate but have not had any luck yet.
