John James Martin (1855 - 1930) - Monroe County, Arkansas

I'm looking for information on my Great, Great Grandfather: John James Martin. He was born in New York in 1855 and died in 1930 in Clarendon, Arkansas, where he is buried in Shady Grove Cemetery.

He married Louisa C Black (b 1868 in Monroe, Arkansas) on Jul 29, 1884. They had one son, Willie Macon Martin (1885-1968), my Great Grandfather.

He later married Nancy W and they had one daughter, Burlen Martin (born about 1897 in Arkansas).

According to the 1910 Census, John James was born in New York.

Other than the information above, I have no clue. It has been told through the years that he came from New York on an orphan train but I can't find any information to back this up whatsoever and honestly wouldn't even know where to look.

Does anyone have any information that may can help me? Please feel free to reply here and/or email me at ben.AT.nwadesignworks.DOT.com (obviously change it to a real address).

Thanks,
Ben
