I’m searching for the two living children of my late Uncle Mel Smith and Aunt Jean Easley. So far I've found Jean’s birth and marriage dates and the full names of her two children listed on rootsweb.com by Sandra Steele. Larry Taylor also shows her death date. William Melvin Smith was born on 5 Feb 1907 in Thatcher, Graham, Arizona and had joined the Army Air Corp about 1942, during WWII. He was a Master Sergeant on active duty with the US Air Force when he died on 4 Feb 1948 of a heart attack while on a commercial flight near Chicago. He’s buried at the Roosevelt Memorial Park Cemetery in Gardena, California. I’m not sure if Mel and Jean were still married at the time of his death, as I have a letter of condolence from the Chaplain at Scott AFB, Illinois that was sent to his sister, stating that Mel was not assigned to that base. His widow is Jean Easley born on 26 May 1908 in Arkansas, died on 6 Aug 1985, and whose parents are John Preston Easley and Ruth P Stevens (or Stephens). Their two children are Melanie Jean Smith and James William (Bill) Smith, both born in the mid 1940s. At some point Jean went to live in Little Rock to assist her mother and was still there with the children when they visited my family in California during the late 1950s. Do you happen to know where their children are now living or how I might get in touch? My Smith-Worsley Family Organization wants to invite them to our reunion this summer. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. Mark Smith Notify Administrator about this message?
