He was born in Tennessee in 1844. He married Sarah ? , who was born in Missouri. Some of his children were born in Arkansas. My line is his son, Allen or Alen Copeland. John lived in Union, Ripley County, Missouri for a while. In the 1880 census he is listed there as John Coplen. That census also says that both his parents were born in Tennessee.
