Donna: It has been several years since I touched notes with you. Have been busy writing my book "AKINS, FOSTERS, LOCKHARTS, MIXONS and Connections". Please help me clear the records on The Alexander Mixon Family as I certainly have finally proved beyond a doubt the following information. Alexander's will (Chickasaw Cty, Ms.) created much confusion,a trip there and a personal search through probate records gave the solid proof that my Thomas Loyd was indeed one of his sons and was the one left off when clerk transcribed the records. The probate records, dated Jan. 1878,reads:"...Abijah and T. L. Mixon, sons in Jacksonville, Texas". Thomas is also the ____Farmer from Colfax County as listed on Alexander's will. The 1850 Census left my Thomas Loyd off as he was with the Samuel O. Smith family. The Richard listed on this Censu, 1850, must have died shortly thereafter. To make it more complicated the MIXON-MIXSON books list him as missing in action on Lookout Mountain, Tn.(during Civil War) and leaves him at that place. He was missing because he was in a hospital at Knoxville at the time.In the very early 1900's Thomas' brother Joseph filed for recognition of Choctaw heritage through his grandmother,Elizabeth Duke Foster. These recognition papers were filed in Oklahoma and after many hours of personal research through the Oklahoma Heritage Indian records, Case # 788 and MCR 332 was located and I did not need any further proof as each person that testified gave information concerning Alexander's children. My Thomas Loyd Mixon testified during these hearings for proof of the Choctaw heritage in March, 1902 at Atoka, I. T. He died in Mena,Polk County, Ar.on July 7, 1907 and is buried at Rocky Cemetery. I have just completed having a Confederate States Tombstone laid at his grave. As an added note after the recognition hearings were finished - they were denied. Please help me get his name added to Alexander's children. What is the Web address for the Mixon Cousins. I still have a few copies of the above mentioned book for sale if anyone should be interested. Johil
