My grandfather William Henry (Alex) Cowan didn't talk about his family so we have no information on them except that he had a sister named Sarah(Ellen)and that his father was from McMinn Co., Tennessee. Also we are Old Settler or Old Nation Cherokee(prior to Trail of Tears we migrated). His birth information is from my mother's birth certificate. He supposedly left home at 14 and married an older woman who gave birth to a daughter named Sarah about 1911 or 12. Sarah(daughter) was adopted by a family named Loomis in the North Little Rock Area. He married Mary Alley Herring in Jan 1913 or 1914. He died on 9-5-1960 in Grannis, Polk Co., Arkansas and is buried at the Grannis Cemetery. He used to go to Oklahoma for Old Nation meetings.
I would like as much information as anyone has regarding this branch of the family.
