Living in 1850 Census, Jasper County, MO, listed as STILES.
Living in Madison County, AR in 1860 Census.

1860 AR Census, Brother, David Stites residing in Carroll Co, AR

1870 Census, I find Betty A. STITES, born abt 1825 MO,with 5 children living with Joel's brother, David STILES/STITES as head of household.
