William R. Brantley, his wife Sarah, and twelve of their children are said to have been killed, by "bushwhackers" in Arkansas in 1863. The Arkansas Census of 1860 shows them living in two separate family units in Richwoods Township, one family that of A. C. Billman and the other the family of Palina Brantley. William is my great-grandfather. A son, my grandfaater, was nine years old at the time and eventually was sent to an orphanage in Illinois. A sister, Martha, was placed with a family in Denver, CO. I expect to be in Lonoke County on 27 or 28 July 2009 and would like to spend some time at a local library to do a bit of research. All information will be appreciated. Eldon L.
