Henry Pendleton SLAUGHTER is my 3rd Great-
grandfather. He died April 1885 (need day) in Lee County, Arkansas. He was born 20 March 1811 "of" Jasper County, Georgia. He married 13 Oct 1829 in Jasper Co., GA to Prudence Pope BICKERSTAFF. Henry moved his family to Arkansas with slaves and with his son-in-law,
Alfred Allen BRYAN who had surveyed the land which became Phillips, Monroe and Lee Counties later. Henry and Prudence had 10 children:
1.Mary Jane SLAUGHTER b 16 Oct 1830 "of" Jasper Co., GA.- d abt 1865/66 Edwardsburg, Phillips County, AR. buried when ? probably at Marianna, Phillips Co.,AR.(at which cemetery ?). She md 18 Mar 1847 in Russell Co., Alabama to Alfred Allen BRYAN.
2.Henry Robert SLAUGHTER b 4 Aug 1832 "of" Jasper Co., GA - d 1862 at Tupelo, Lee County, Mississippi. md 4 Aug 1859 in Russell Co., Alabama to Sarah or Sallie MARTIN.
3.Sarah Frances SLAUGHTER b 13 Jun 1834 "of" Jasper Co., GA. - d __March 1887 Marianna, Lee County, AR. md 13 Oct 1856 in Russell County, AL to Eaustus Lynch BLACK.
4.Thomas Jefferson SLAUGHTER b 18 Nov 1837 "of" Jasper Co.,GA - d abt 1840 in
Jasper Co., GA. (where buried ?)
5.Nancy Margaret SLAUGHTER b 27 Mar 1841 "of" Jasper Co., GA - d abt 1855 in Russell Co., AL.(where buried ?)
6.George Washington SLAUGHTER b 3 Feb 1843 "of" Russell Co., AL - d after 1893 in Lee County, Arkansas. He
md 19 Mar 1879 in Lee Co.,AR to
Julia J. YARBROUGH.
7.William Warren SLAUGHTER b 2 Oct 1844 "of" Russell Co., AL - d 1877 Spring Creek, Phillips County, AR. He md 1869, where ? to Mattie or Mollie KOONCE.
8.Arthur SLAUGHTER b 23 Dec 1846 "of" Russell Co., AL - d 1868 Marianna, Phillips Co., AR.
9.Leonidas F. "Lon" SLAUGHTER b 8 Dec 1848 Macon County, Alabama - d after 15 Jan 1894 possibly in Marianna, Lee County, Arkansas. He md 28 Feb 1871 in St. Francis County or in Phillips County, Arkansas to Sallie C. JONES.
10.James Alexander SLAUGHTER b 17 Jan 1851 "of" Russell Co., AL - d after 15 Jan 1894 in Marianna, Lee Co.,AR.
