I just couldn't turn this loose, so began checking out the Oxner forum. The surname Fisher came up linked with the Oxners in both Monroe and Lee Counties, AR. Somewhere along the line these people had to intersect with your Jeffcoat family, just where was the question. I looked at the Fisher and Oxner families in 1880 in those two counties and focused on George Fisher because the 1880 census of Texas Township, Lee Co., AR, indicated he was born in Indiana, as you had said the wife of William R. Jeffcoat was. In this census, George Fisher is shown as a son-in-law in the HH of Henry Oxner. A post on the Oxner forums says that two Fishers married Oxners.

In 1870, George Fisher, age 20, and John Fisher, age 17, both born Indiana, are found in Madison, Texas Township, St. Francis Co., AR, page 6. I believe they are in the same place in both the 1880 and 1870 census' because in 1870, there was no Lee County, AR, so if you do a search at Ancestry, it comes up blank. Lee was created from St. Francis, Phillips, and Monroe Counties. The head of this household is Jeff Coats, born Alabama. With him are his wife Nancy J., born IN, daughter Nancy J., age 1, born AR. The Henry Oxner family is just before that of the Coats and Fisher family.

I am of the impression that you have access to these census records, so if you do not, let me know. The Oxner name is another one that is often missread in the indexes, so if you can't find them, resort to searching just for an unusual first name. In the census records I looked at from 1870 through 1930, many of the same surnames show up in close proximity to the Fishers, Tripletts, and Johnsons, so there is a good chance there are relationships.
