Hello Marla Goodrich. . .Thank you for your contact. I am not related to Andrew Gullet and am not a Gullet family researcher. Our Lawrence County ancestor is William Robinson. He was named one of the first county commissioners when it was established in 1815. Prior to 1815 the Fourche de Thomas area was in Randolph County. I am interested in ANY information about the earliest settlers to this area of what became Arkansas. Specifically, I am interested in where these pioneers came from and with whom they traveled. . .very often entire family units moved together. In 1816 a defamation of character type lawsuit was initiated by our William Robinson against Bazil Boran. I have been fortunate to have my hands on some of the original documents which have survived. The name of Andrew Gullet is listed as a witness for Bazil Boran. Others were Samuel Russell, John Taylor, Thomas Holt, John Story, William Compton, Jacob Pevyhouse, Jacob Fortenberry and William Mills Witnesses for William Robinson were John Shannon, Lewis Boatwright, Joseph Campbell, Micajah Harris, JP, Daniel Cunningham, David Hix, George Miller, John Pierce, Thomas Delaney, William Hix, and William Harris. Clearly all of these men were area residents and known to one another. Our Robinson ancestor can be placed in this area as early as 1810, and it appears the Shannons, Comptons and Borans, at least, traveled together to this area from Kentucky. A deposition from the lawsuit places them "along the Kentucky River" in approximately 1807. Was Andrew Gullet related to any of these other men? Do you know anything about these other families? From where, and by what trail did Andrew Gullet reach this area? Thank you for your time and attention to my request for information.
