The Davis family is mentioned as living on the new road connecting Smithville and Powhatan in Chapter II, (1836-1861). Specific names in the index are James Davis, John Davis, Leila (Sloan) Davis, Martha (McCarroll) Davis, and Mary (McCarroll) Davis.

Nathaniel McCarroll is said to have arrived from Kentucky as early as 1808.

No dates are given for these marriages.
