Dear Freda,

There are several references to the Baker’s of Lawrence County in this book. In fact the author states he married, in 1897, Miss Ara Baker, daughter of Ara and Eliza (Norman) Baker, of Home Mountain, Arkansas. The author, Walter E. McLeod, notes that during the period 1836-1861 “the section of country lying between Smithville and Powhatan along the new road connecting the two towns, rapidly filled with settlers. Most of them came from Tennessee, Virginia, and North Carolina. They belonged to good families in the states from which they came…” Then he lists the families along that road starting with the Bakers.

That’s about it. No direct reference to any of your listed names.

Eric
