Hi tonia,

This book mentions two Browns who were William Brown and J.S. Brown.

In the Section THE STRAWBERRY RIVER COUNTRY:

“By the kindness of Rev. J.G. Taylor, of Little Rock, I have a roll of the Strawberry congregation of Cumberland Presbyterians, organized by Rev. John Mulligan in 1825. It is the oldest church of that denomination in the county. I give the roll here because it must contain the names of many Lawrence county pioneers at that time…

Then there follows a list of about forty names, including William BROWN.

Later in the book is a chart of Lawrence County Officials, 1819 to 1937. It lists a J.S. BROWN as county clerk, two terms, 1838-1840 and 1840-1842”

Hope this helps.

Eric
