Malisa, Records available at the court house in Batesville, Independence Co., AR. are: Marriage, divorce, record of personal property and real estate tax assesment and payment. Also wills and probate, county court records, deeds and so on. Birth and death cirtificates are kept by the state, not the county. You will find them at: Arkansas Dept. of Health, Division of Vital Records, Slot 44, 4815 West Markham St. Little Rock, AR. 72205-3867, Phone (501) 661-2726. As far as Social Security goes, that is a Federal Program in Washington, D.C. After the death of an individual, some Social Security records can be found on line at: RootsWeb.com.
