Edwin's occupation in given as: "working on farm," which may indicate he worked for Joel Mason. James, Joseph and John were also to "work on farm." Edward Youngblood's occupation was given as: carpenter in the 1860 Polk Co., GA census. Polk Bayou was given as the P.O. 1880 T9-47: Sharp County, Arkansas, Johnson TWP, E.D. 192, Sheet 140C, dwelling No. 65/66 (8& 9 June 1880). line 38 Stubblefield, Whitten 29 farmer b. AR census of 1870 in the household of Thos Stubblefield (49). He does not appear in the 1860 Fulton Co. household (165/23) of Thomas M. Stubblefield, whose children: Sarah (4), Joseph (3) and Francis (1) appear to be in the 1870 census of Thos Stublefield as: Sarah (15), Joseph (13) and Francis (11). Whitten may not be his son. Both men are found in Union Township. J. W. Brown, John Brown and Thomas N. Brown appear at 166/38, 167/39 and 168/30 respectively. Mary E. Stubblefield (wife) tracks with Maria(h) Stone's daughter in the 1860 and 1870 households of Joel Mason as: Mary (7) and Mary Stone (18) respectively. Thus the relationship should most probably be grandfather. End Arkansas census record of Joel Mason. Georgia 1840 M704-40: DeKalb County, Georgia, 479 MD, p. 56 (date not given) line 20 . Several other Spartanburg and Campbell County names also appear in the 479 MD of DeKalb County in 1840, including: Jesse Wood, and Levi Brown, Mary Cannon. Zeph- Wood and Elijah Wood appear in the 469, MD, while the 572 MD enumeration list includes: Charles Mason, Francis Wood, John Mason, William Mason, Jesse Lanford, Joseph Woodruff, and Absalom B. Wood. John Brown and family appear on line 19 directly above Joel Mason with: M 2 0 0 0 1 0 0; F 0 0 0 0 1 0 0. John Brown and family appear near Joel, or other members of the Mason family, through 1880 (See Simpson Mason, Fulton County, AR, 1860 below.) The 479 MD in DeKalb County was the location of Utoy Primitive Baptist Church, from which Enon Church separated in 1833. It bordered the 731st MD in Campbell County where Francis’ children Sarah Smith, Lovina Hindman, and James Mason all lived in 1840. 1850 M432-63: Cass County, Georgia, Div. 12, p. 103, dwelling No. 50/50 (14 August 1850) line 20 . GA Note: John and Rebecca Brown (see Simpson Mason below) appear at line 34, p. 104, at which time her age was given as 30, corresponding with one of the two females in Joel's 1840 household in the 15< 20 category. Sarah, here listed as age 26, corresponds in age to the second female in the 1840 15<20 age group, while Lucinda fits with the single female who was less than five. Assuming the female in the 1840 age category 5<10 has left home, all members of the household are accounted. Wilson Mason appears on line 33, p. 106 in the household of Henry Huffman. GA Notes: Karen Dale indicates that Maria Stone in the 1850 census of Cass Co. is probably Joel's daughter, that Rebecca Brown, may also be a daughter, and that Lucinda Youngblood (20), who appears with Edward Youngblood, and children: James (5), Joseph (3), and John (5/12) is, according to one website, his daughter as well. See household of Edward Youngblood at line 13 above. At 32, Maria Stone's age corresponds with the age of one female between 5 and 10 in the 1840, DeKalb Co. census. Lucinda Youngblood's age corresponds with the female aged less than five in 1840, and Lucinda Mason aged 11 in 1850. Mary Mason's age corresponds with the female in DeKalb Co. aged 40-50 in 1840, and that of Polly (53) in 1850. Pumpkin Pile was given as the P.O. According to another posting, Lucinda Mason Youngblood is identified in the funeral records of John S. Youngblood. John S. Youngblood appears in the 1880 census record of Sealie (Celia Sapp) Youngblood, reportedly the second wife of Edward. He is listed as her stepson, aged 21 years, which agrees with the age of John in Lucinda's 1860 family in Polk. Lucinda's date of death was given as July 24, 1861 (genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?mason::ga/polk::114html). Mason is listed for 1860, because of the likelihood that he is Joel Mason's son described as "Wilse" in bible records and notes of Lila Mason Cook. A granddaughter of Joel's brother James, she described her father's family relationships to his aunts and uncles. In them, she noted "Uncle Joel, Polk County: children: Wilse. Simp, and John. (all of whom are found in association with Joel in federal census records.) Although estimates of Wilson's age vary widely, available census data show that Wilse, Simp and John could have been the children recorded in Joel Mason's 1840 household. individual1840 1850 1860 1864 1870 1880 Wilson *(1) 15-20 25 23 42 49 59 John (A.)(1) 5<10 - 29 - - - Simpson (1) 20-30 - 39 - - - Joel (1) 40- 55 65 - 77 85 * The census of 1864 was conducted by the State of Georgia to determine the number of men available for militia duty. Wilson Mason's age was given as 42 years 2 months, his occupation that of shoe maker, with the notation that he was exempt from CSA service (Cornell, Nancy J. A Census for Reorganizing the Georgia Militia, p. 26). His wife was identified as Mary in the 1860-1880 federal censuses. John A. Mason (29) found in the Polk County census of 1860 with wife Frances (23) and daughter Malica M. (F, 10/12) does not appear in subsequent censuses. However, a Fanny Mason (32) does appear in the Polk County Census of 1870, with Alice M. (F, 10), Mary (F, 7) and John (M, 5). Neither she nor the children have been found in later census records.
