Hi Veda, I was scanning over the Independence County, Ark., message board, where you left a inquiry, some time ago, and though I may respond, even though I don't know about Serena Nelson that you ask about. My ancestors were there all in that time frame. Reuben Nelson born in 1793 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, and died in Independence County, Arkansas, in the 1850's. He and his wife Nancy had eleven children, with 7 of them being sons: Martin, Ambrose, Basell, Moses, William L.,Reuben jr., and Thomas J. Nelson. His youngest son, Thomas J. Nelson is my direct link. Now, the point being, the above Reuben Nelson, had a brother named Martin Nelson, who had a son named George Washington Nelson, who was born in Calloway County, Kentucky, in 1833. Now I want to say up front that I do not have any extention onto George Washington Nelson, as far as a wife, and/or children, However if this is the George Washington Nelson, that you may be looking for, I have a rather extensive bunch of information of all his reletives, on back. Give me some more dates, and information, and we will see if this George Washington Nelson, may have migrated into Arkansas, near his Uncle Reuben. Reuben was the second Nelson to settle in Izard and Independence County, as of 1840. [email protected]
