Hi Chris,

Gertrude [Tackett] Dye was my grgr-grandmother. She was born in Georgia and had two children in Mississippi prior to marrying Elihu M. Dye; Gertrude Elizabeth Tackett, b. 1876 and Laura Belle Tackett, b. 1877.

It appears she moved to Arkansas were she later married Elihu. I have also seen the 01 Sep 1881 date in Arkansas, but do not have proof. I show two children between them; Julian Dye, b. 1880 and Yovel Boswell, b. 1882.

What was the record you saw for Gertrude's birth and death years?

Elihu's 2nd marriage can be found in 'Arkansas County Marriage Records, 1837-1957'.

We have good reason to believe Gertrude descends from Oliver Hazard Perry "OHP" Tackett (son of George Tackett and Elizabeth Nichols), however making the actual connection has proven difficult. Her second daugher, Belle Tackett received a letter from a W. P. Tackett, a lawyer at the Tackett & Smith law office in Lexington, MS in 1906 asking about an inheritance for a uncle P. J. Tackett. In the letter, he mentions other brothers (Dr. John Tackett and G. T. Tackett - all sons of OHP) and even notes he is married and the whereabouts and spouses of his two daughters.

I'd love to correspond and will glady share what I know.
Ron Moore
