HOPE, AR--. J. T. Honeycutt, 87, of Hope, died Monday, May 17, 2010, in Little Rock. He was born April 28, 1923, in DeAnn, to Odus and Ivy Ruth Prince Honeycutt. He graduated

from St. Louis College of Mortuary Science, St.Louis, Mo., and received his license from the Arkansas 

State Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers on August 14, 1949, and became a Licensed Funeral Director

 in 1957. He then went to work in Fordyce for Benton Funeral Home; then onto Herndon-Cornelius Funeral 

Home in Hope, and later for The Brazzel Funeral Homes in both Hope and Prescott, until his health forced him

 into retirement. He was a former Hempstead County Coroner, having served for 26 years; a member of First

 United Methodist Church in Hope and the Century Bible Class; former member of the Hope Lions Club and a

 World War II veteran, having served in the 153rd Infantry. He enjoyed fishing and vacationing with his family. 
He was preceded in death by his parents and by three sisters, Margaret Reed, Verda Mae Virden and Sue Staner.

 His survivors include his wife of 66 years, Edith Sooter Honeycutt, of Hope; one son, Dr. John Honeycutt and Ann, of Paragould

; one daughter, Betty Ruth Honeycutt Welch and Jerry, of Little Rock; one brother, Ray Honeycutt of Hope; one sister, Oveta Kennedy, of Dallas, Texas
; three grandchildren, Dr. John Honeycutt and Shannon, of Fort Worth, Texas, Josh Honeycutt and Danielle, of Paragould, Amanda Sarver and Nicholas, of Hot Springs Village; six great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 19, from noon to 2 p.m., at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home, in Hope.
 Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 19, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope ,with Rev. Keenan Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements are by Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home in Hope. 
 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made may be made to the University of Arkansas Community College at Hope, J.T. Honeycutt Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 140, Hope, Ar., 71802.
