Helping husband find more info. on his Clark family in AR. John D. and Elizabeth (maiden name unknown) had the following children: Elizabeth J., Eddie H., Robert, William H., James H., Nancy R., and Mary C. John was a widower by the 1870 census.
John D. was in Hempstead Co. from no later than 1858 to at least 1867. He is listed as being the principal on an Estray Bond in 1867. (Pg. 59 of the book "Estray Bonds in Hempstead County.) There was no security on this bond, having to do with livestock, and R. F. Sullivan in Springhill was the Justice of the Peace that dealt with this matter.
In 1858 J.D. Clark, along with E. Clark (Eddie?), was appointed an overseer on the road crew near Spring Hill, Hempstead Co., road district #9. The district began at Little Bodcaw Creek and ended at J.T. Downs' [As found in the "Journal of Hempstead County Historical Society, Vol. #13, 1994]
