I am trying to link one of my ancestors to Tamsey Clarke. Mrs. Clarke moved to Grant County, Arkansas, in the mid 1800's with her son, Wellington Clarke. At some point the "e" was dropped from their surname. Wellington and his wife had several children. One of these, Hiram, married a woman named Melissa A. and I have found them as late as 1930 living in the Simpson area of Grant County, Arkansas. Hiram and his wife were 71 and 70 at that time. Next door to them was B. Frank Clark and his family. I believe this is a son and his family. Tamsey Clarke lived with Hiram until her death in the early 1900's. I am trying to find any background on her. I know she was born in North Carolina, settled for a while in Newton County, Mississippi with her two sons, then moved to Grant County, Arkansas. Also moving there at the same time were Lewis Moore Patterson and his wife Minerva, relatives of Mrs. Clarke. I would love to correspond with anyone descended from this family or with information on the Pattersons or the Clarkes of Grant County, Arkansas.
