The possibility of obtaining an obit from this time period might prove very difficult. I would suggest you contact the Garland County Historical Society as they have SOME very old newspapers. The County library has newspapers on microfilm back to 1929, but some of those years are pretty sketchy and almost impossible to read. There is a remote possibility that there might be a few even a bit older, but I don't recall seeing any on my numerous visits there. I know you didn't ask for any other info, but will list the following: 1880 City of Hot Springs D-465 J B Brooks 41 b. OH Physician, wife Eva P 33 b. VT, dau Zillah 13 and dau Ada M 10 both b. IL. Ada 19 md. George H Lower 37 Oct 22, 1889. In the Hollywood Cemetery records, I found Dr J B Brooks June 15, 1907; Eva C Jan 10, 1929 (Gross Funeral Home records show her as 82; Ada Lower Oct 11, 1950 (Gross-b. Dec 1871 f. John Beatty Brooks m. Eva Chamberlain); George H Lower June 24, 1914; and Jane Dunlap Lower Mar 18 1906. Hope some of this might be useful for you. Good Luck.
