My records indicate that James Carroll was a son of John and Elizabeth Fisher Gist. He was born 2-8-1849 in Tennessee and died 11-26-1890. He is buried in Marcus Hill Cemetery, in Faulkner County.
His first wife was Nancy L. Wiley she was born 3-15-1845 and died 10-10-1875, and is also buried in Marcus Hill.
John Henry Gist was a brother to James Carroll. He was born 7-20-1859. He married Martha A. "Mattie"Garrett. She was a daughter of William T. and Nancy Evaline Matilda Harrison Garrett. Both John Henry and Mattie are also buried in same cemetery as James Carroll and his family.
Believe that James Carroll was a sucessfull business man in
Conway and served on the board of directors for several different organizations in that town over a period of several years. Much early history on the Gist family can be found in Lawrence county, Tennessee. It is an interesting family to research.
