Searching for family data on Martha M. Simpson of south central Arkansas.
I believe her parents were Ernest M. Simpson and Sue M. Unknown. I found this family in the 1930 census for Pine Bluff, Jefferson, AR. This Martha M. Simpson was 10-years old.
Martha M. Simpson m. Robert Abner "Bob" Russell, b. 2 Dec 1914, d. Oct 1983. He was born and died in Fordyce, Dallas, AR. Info from the online family databases indicate that they had a daughter named Suella Russell, NFI on her at this time. (Her name was a combination of Martha's mother, Sue, and Robert's mother, Ella.)
In the online military records, Robert was listed as a "widower with dependents" at the time of his enlistment into the U.S. Army for service in WWII. He enlisted at Little Rock, AR, on 13 Jan 1944.
So, I don't know if Martha Simpson was his first wife and died before 1944 or if she was his wife after he got out of the Army.
I found a death record in the Social Security Death Index for a Martha M. Russell, b. 18 Feb 1920, d. 2 Jun 2004. Her last residence was listed as Quitman, Cleburne, AR. The last benefit was sent to Fordyce, Dallas, AR.
If this death record is for Robert's wife, then they obviously married after 1944, not before.
Any help would be appreciated.
