Looking for the parents of James M. Hickman, a Lawyer from Earle Arkansas. In 1920 he lived in Earle, AR and was a General Practice Lawyer. He was, at one time, a member of the Leland Lodge #496 in Leland, Mississippi, when he petition for affiliation with the Crittenden Lodge on July 11, 1918 in Earle. He also wrote a book of poems called, "Songs from the Ozarks and other poems." The book was printed by The Mississippi Printing Co. in Vicksburg, MS, in 1921. His home was called Locust Cottage and he wrote a poem about it in his book. The first information I obtained about this man came from my Aunt Ruth Hickman Newton, when she recalled his visit to Butler County around the 1930's. She said, he met with Samuel Aaron Hickman Jr. (Papa Hickman) and the Hickman’s around Central Community. Sometime that day, he moved on down across Pigeon Creek to meet with John William Hickman (Uncle John) and was never heard from again. In 1998, I worked with Virginia Day McDonald of Georgia, who comes from our Hickman line in Upson County, GA and she wrote me saying, "I have a cousin who in 90 years old (clear mind) and she remembers him coming to Turner County, Georgia one time and she has a copy of his book." While in Central, he gave someone a copy of the book, and on the title page under his name someone has written 2nd cousin. The names Merle and Ruth Hickman are also written on that page. That would be the names of my Aunt Mattie Merle Hickman Searsy Thompson and Aunt Ida Ruth Hickman Newton. I have a picture of James M. Hickman, from the book.
