On Oct. 15, 1906, Torrence W. Higgins, minor heir of Emma P. Higgins, filed a homestead claim (or someone filed it for him) for about a hundred and sixty acres. This parcel was the "North East quarter of the South West quarter, the South East quarter of the North West quarter and the West half of the North East quarter of Section thirty-one in Township six North of Range eighteen West of the Fifth Principal Meridian in Arkansas." When I looked it up on the topo map, it appeared to be situated in the Red Bluff part of the Mountain, and would have included what is now the Mary Ann Richter overlook ("Lookout Point" on the topographic map). Some of it is flat and could have been farmed, but it looks like a good amount was really steep bluffs.
Don't know if this is your family, but hope it helps.
