John Thomas Moton (Moten) was my great grandfather. Looking for his parents. JT Moton first appeared on a census in 1870 in Columbia Co. AR age 7 living with C.C. Clark and wife Analiza. It is believed that his parents drowned when he was an infant and that he was an only child. There is a reference to a Mrs. O.A. Moten as a guardian of a male between 5 and 10 in 1866 in Claiborne Parish LA. In 1860 Christopher C. Clark was living in Claiborne Parish LA. On the 1880 census JT is still living with C.C. Clark and wife, but in Columbia Co. AR PO Cornie. JT married in Union Co. AR to Rosanna Nevils around 1890 - 1894. C.C. Clark died in 1890 in Columbia Co. AR. He met Rosanna in Oklahoma and they returned to Union Co. her home to marry. In 1900 and 1910 they are living in Union Co. AR
She died in 1919 and he died in 1939 and they are buried in the Laran Cemetery a mile south of AR line in Union Parish LA. In 1930 he was living in Union Parish LA. Their children were: Docia Pearl (Littleton), Lillie Carl (Canady), Harvey B., Artis, Reby (Milstead), Jessie, and Maybel (Married?) Gracie (Nash) and female infant who died.
