Mary,I don't know if you found out what you needed on "the Hitt place". Although I live in Texzs now, I grew up in Piggott AR, Clay Co. There was a place outside of Piggott that was called that. I lived in Piggott on Taylor St and there was a man Named: Pug Hitt who lived down the street. He came to our house for many a Sunday Dinner. My Grandfather (J.W. Leonard or Bill that is what everybody called him) was a local business man in Piggott. Pug Hitt knew my Grandpa and Pug was a door to door Shoe Salesman. He sold Mason, Knapp Shoes, and etc. Bug had an older sister that he took care of. If my Grandfather was still alive, he could take you to "the Hitt place". I remember when we was a riding out in the country he would say: that's the old Hitt place. If he was still alive today, he would be 104 y/o. I think Pug's sister's name was Mary, but I'm not sure. They also had a sister that was married to a Rhodes. The Rhodes lived in Memphis TN and had a Country/Gospel Singing Group. There was Dusty, Slim, Speck & Dusty's wife and kids. If Charles Pollard, can"t find anything by "the Hitt place", you might try to connect it through Pug Hitt. Pug grew up on that farm. I new Pug all my life until he died and I'm not sure if Pug was a nickname or hia real name. Anyway, I could write a book about it. I didn't mean to bend your ear,but I hope it helps alittle. Feel free to email me contini@netzero.net
