Hello
Wow, this is exciting.I never thought that I would have contact with the Ark. family. Not only that,Elma is still alive.Great!
Well, let me tell you who I am.My name is Alan Cearley. My grandmother,Jessie Owenby,is the daughter of Carrie V.Anderson Owenby. She was the daughter of Martha Ann Morrow, the sister of John Morrow and daughter of Marcus Morrow and unknown woman.Marcus was married to another woman before he married John's mother, Harriett. We can not find out who she was. That is a good question for Elma.Who was Marcus's first wife?
Anyways,My grandmother, who will be 99 in July used to write Elma back in the 1920s or so.We have a couple of pictures of her,her mother and Uncle John.I would not doubt that she might have my grandmother's picture too.
Would it be possible to get Elma's address so she could write her again?
That is, if she remembers her.
Before moving to Arkansas from Ga. Marcus killed his son-in-law for being mean to his wife.Do you know who the man was and which girl he was married to?
Do you know any more of this tale?I have talked to Uncle Calvin's g-g-grandson and he confirms what has been handed down to me.
Now, what was Elma's mother and daddy's names?
Do you know any more family tales or history.
I know that Marcus and wives and children lived in Rutherford Co. NC before the Civil War.The Eldest girl Arrenia, married a man in Spartanburg,SC,Pleasant Page was his name.He died from disease in the Confederate Army.
I can send you more detail if you like.
After the war,The Morrow family moved to the Cherokee Co, NC/Fannin Co. Ga. area. They built a house.THe house is still there. This is where Marcus killed the man and fled to Arkansas.Harriet and all children but Arrenia and Martha and maybe another went to Arkansas.Arrenia had married again and Martha had married Harvey Anderson.
My grandmother says that Uncle John came back for a visit. He brought 2 suitcases. One with fine clothes and the other with ordinary clothes. He stayed a little while. He was never to come back. That is how she got acquainted with Elma.
We pretty much have very little info on the family once they made it to Ark.Of course the info before is very sketchy.Anything you can offer will be a great help.
Does anyone have old photos of Marcus Morrow, John Morrow,Calvin Morrow, Arrenia Morrow, Martha Ann Morrow or anything like that?IF so,could they be scanned or, if I paid for it,copied onto film?
Is there any info you would like?I have a few photos if you would like copies or scans.
It is great to meet you.It is kinda weird to find some family that has been lost for 80 or so years.
If you would like Uncle Calvin's descendant's email addy,I am sure that he would like for you to have it.
Thank you for contacting me.
Alan Cearley
