Peggy: Just Goggling should tell you that the likeliest paper would be "Clay County Times-Democrat" but they don't archive obits that far back and I rather doubt that they will be inclined to look-up an obit that far back. Instead, I would contact the Corning Public Library, here is a link for contact info:

Since they don't do research, they might be willing to pass on your request to the local historical/genealogical society and a member might be willing to do the look-up. If so, a token donation to the organization would be in order. Also, have you checked RAOGK to see if there is a volunteer there? Rick
