Fitzgeralds, Martins-Clark County
I am looking for any information on any Fitzgeralds, Martins and their families which were located in Clark and Pike Counties. The Rev. William Andrew Fitzgerald, born 1851 in Georgia was married to Louise Dillard, daughter of William Frank and Judah Dillard. These were my great grandparents.Their daughter, Mary Ellen "Mollie" wed Thomas J. Martin and they bore my mother Mary E. Martin. The Rev. Fitzgerald was a circuit rider for many churches in western Arkansas and helped establish some schools. His mother was Beersheba/Bashiba/Abashaba Mitchell-Fitzgerald-Wright.Her first husband was William R. Fitzgerald of Georgia who died in Jan. 1851 in California where he had gone to prospect for gold. They had a son, William Andrew Fitzgerald who migrated to Clark County, AR.where he became a minister. He had churches in Amity, Mena, and Beebe, Arkansas. Beersheba wed 2nd husband Edmond Wright in Lumpkin County, GA. I can't seem to find any additional information about them but I have a gut feeling that Beersheba and Edmond Wright and/or some of their Wright kinfolks may have moved to southwest Arkansas. The time frame for these folks would be in the 1870s-1900.If any of this information sounds familiar, please contact me.Susie Dent
