I descend from daughter, Mary who married Sam Chandler. So happy to see your post.
Do you have any further info on George & Nancy?
I believe they might be the George Bates family from Lincoln Co. TN in 1830 census? Any thoughts?
George & family were in Crawford Co., MO in 1840.
Carroll Co., AR 1850 then back to Crawford Co., MO in 1860. Do you have any idea what brought the entire Bates family to Carroll Co.? They all returned to Crawford Co., MO just a few short years later.
Was there something going on in Carroll Co. during that time, goldrush? opening of new territory? new mine?
Any idea what brought the family there?
