I have an interest in Carroll Co. Ar and the Plumlee/Plumley line.My father was born in Carroll Co. in 1885.Two sisters of my paternal grandmother married descendants of Joel Plumlee, Sr., pioneer settler of Carroll Co.The sisters married half brothers, sons of Joel's daughter, Nancy Plumlee Leonard Johnson.
I don't have a proven answer for your Sarah Plumlee, but dates, naming patterns and proximity would seem to strongly suggest that she was the daughter of Denton and Martha (Mays) Plumlee, who came from White Co. TN to AR, then MO.In 1858/1859 they moved to Parker County TX.Denton Plumlee was a brother of Joel Plumlee, Sr.
Information found at rootsweb.com's Search Family Trees gives this listing of the children of Denton and Martha Plumlee:
Isaac Denton, b. TN
Ransom, b. 8 Jan 1823, TN
Robert Mays, b. about 1825
John, b. about 1832
Sarah, b. about 1835
Nancy, b. about 1838
Nicey, b. about 1845.
This family can be found in the 1850 Newton Co. MO online census (free)
Benton Township:
Denton Plumlee, age 47, b. TN, Occupation Physician
Martha Plumlee, age 45, b. NC
Isaac Plumlee, age 20, b. TN
John Plumlee, age 18, b. AR
Sarah Plumlee, age 15, b. AR
Nancy Plumlee, age 12, b. AR
Nicey Plumlee, age 5, b. AR.
Ransom Plumlee and Robert M. Plumlee had married by this time and were living nearby, shown one page away from their parents. Some lists show an additional daughter, Margaret Plumlee, who married John Key.This family can also be found in Benton township.Margaret is listed as age 22, b. in TN.John and Margaret (Plumlee) Key also moved to Parker Co. TX.Based upon ages of children, she was the 2nd wife of John Key.
Notes on Denton Plumlee show he had land in Newton and McDonald County MO, because the property crossed the county line between Newton and McDonald Counties.Rocky Comfort, MO is very close to the county line between these 2 counties. This would seem to place Sarah, daughter of Denton, near the area where Abraham Kuykendall is supposed to have been.I'm wondering if they might have married in either Newton or McDonald County before moving to Texas.Sarah's older brother, Ransom, apparently remained in MO.He can be found in the 1880 U.S. census living in McDonald Co. MO.
As for Abraham Kuykendall, I did a google search and found one item that might apply. His name linked to a site, "Arkansas Confederate Pension Index" by Desmond Walls Allen. The name, Abraham Kuykendall, was on the list. There was this note:"a veteran need not have served in an Arkansas unit in order to have received a Confederate pension from Arkansas."At a link for Civil War Rosters I filled in the name Abraham Kuykendall and only one was shown. He was a member of the Confederate military, Company A, Wells Battalion, Texas Cavalry. It organized at Doaksville, IT, which is in far southern Oklahoma in what is now Choctaw County. The information is that most skirmishes were in IT.In the brief soldier's information it states for an alternate name "Abe Rakandall", so apparently his name was misspelled at some time. You might keep that in mind.Of course, I don't know that this is the same Abraham Kuydendall, it is just a possibility, and it seems that he was in Texas at the time of the Civil War.
I apologize for the length of this.Since you have researched for several years, it might be that you have gone through all this before, but sometimes it is helpful to compare notes.
