Tina, The John Rogers of my ancestral search was (and still is) one of Forsyth, GA's most prominent citizens. I don't know if he was born in that state or not. He was also a politician, or at least friends of Georgia's officials. Hi first marriage was to a Sally Cordery, one-half Cherokee, and they had 11 children. he was an "intruder" in the Cherokee Nation east before it became NW GA. Georgia did not recognize an Indian ceremonial marriage in the early 1800s until about 1850, but he did inherit from Sally (Sarah) 15,000 acres, and by Cherokee law all their children's last names were Cordery--John and Sally lived across the Chattahochie River, and tho a white man he lost citizenship of GA. Ten, cause of his connections had last name of all children changed to Rogers and regained his citizenship. Let me know if this is one of the Rogers you seek, and more will follow.bob
