The reason the land was registered at Harrison is because it was a Federal land transaction, that is the land was aquired from the Federal government via the homestead act. All Federal land records have to be recorded at a FEDERAL land office. The closest Federal land office to your family's home was at Harrison.

The land for Twp 15, Range 16, Sec 34 is just south west of the town of Marshall Arkansas. The Arkansas Highway has maps of all counties in Arkansas, with Twp, Range designations marked here:

These are large tiff images that take a while to download, but the maps are very clear and easy to read. I downloaded the Searcy Co map and marked Twp 15, Range 16, Sec 34 and uploaded it here

It is still a fairly large image, but you can see where sec 34 is located.
