James Henderson BERRY was married 31 Oct 1865 in Ozark, Franklin Co, AR to Elizabeth Quaile, daughter of James Franklin QUAILE and Frances QUISENBERRY. The couple eloped, Mr QUAILE disapproving of the match since James BERRY was a one legged Civil War invalid with little education, no money, and few prospects. His parents were James McFerrin BERRY and Isabella Jane ORR.

Their children were:

Nellie Frank BERRY
Albert Josephine BERRY
Jennie Blackburn BERRY
Bessie Pittman BERRY
Elliot R. BERRY
Frederick Hugh BERRY

The Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Library which is located at the Peel Mansion in Bentonville is named in Governor BERRY's honor.
